Walk and touch peace every moment
/What is your awareness like as you move around throughout the day?
Each footstep is an invitation to be mindful.
Each connection you get with the earth is a gift.
Walk and touch peace every moment.
Walk and touch happiness every moment.
Each step brings a fresh breeze.
Each step makes a flower bloom under our feet.
Kiss the Earth with your feet.
Thich Nhat Hanh
Be mindful as you take a walk:
Use each step as your anchor in this mindfulness practice. Breath comfortably and deeply tune into sensations as your body connects with the earth. Bring your focus to the bottoms of your feet as you take each step and see if you can open yourself up the feel of your surroundings. When you notice yourself thinking, planning, ruminating - gently bring yourself back to your footsteps. This is often referred to as Walking Meditation. Jack Kornfield, a prominent teacher of Buddhist mindfulness practice, offers a wonderful guided audio one here.
Noticing and bringing your attention back from thinking is mindfulness practice - you are training your brain in a powerful way!
